MCh, Neurological Surgery – Spine & Brain

Prof. Hillol Kanti Pal is an alumnus of the renowned All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. He completed his medical graduation leading to the award of MBBS in 1984. He went on to complete the prestigious Neurosurgical residency program with the award of the coveted M Ch (Neurosurgery) degree in 1989. Prof. Hillol served with distinction as Senior Neurosurgeon at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi (1995-2005), now a Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. He taught as Associate Professor (Neurosains) at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kelantan, Malaysia (2005-2011) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Government of Malaysia. Currently, he is Consultant Neurological surgery with Dubai Health Authority. Prof. Hillol is an accomplished Neurosurgeon and a gifted teacher well liked by his students many of whom are now Consultant Neurosurgeons spread all over the globe. His contributions to the field of Neurological surgery includes:
  1. ‘Atlas of Craniovertebral Junction Surgery- Problems & Solutions (2008).’ Published by Penerbit Universiti Sains Malaysia. This book was awarded, the prestigious national Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia(MAPIM) 2008 award as the 'Best written book' in the category: 'Science, Technology & Medicine' by the Malaysian Association of Academic Publishers on 18th April 2009 at World Putra Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
  2. ‘Endoscopic Anatomy of Expanded Endonasal Approaches (2012).’ Published by Anuugya Books, New Delhi this book has received excellent peer reviews by masters in this evolving field with Professor Engelbert Knosp of the Medical University of Vienna commenting, ‘I am very pleased to receive this wonderful and extremely helpful book on ‘Endoscopic Anatomy of Expanded Endonasal Approaches.’ As you may know, I worked for many years together with Prof. Perneczky and with Prof. Tschabitscher in Vienna as well as in Mainz, and I can appreciate your excellent work.’
  3. ‘The Stroke Physician (2016)’ published by PGP Consultant Corporation, Ontario, Canada as an effort to provide practicing Physicians in the community and young neurologists the recent changes in these exciting times in the management of Acute Stroke.
Prof. Hillol has been an invited Guest faculty at Universiti Sains Malaysia(2005-2011) and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (2010). He set up the Endoscopic Skull Base Laboratory at the Department of Anatomy, Universiti Science Malaysia, Kubang Kerian, Kelantan for the training of neurosurgery residents with Dr. Shamim Khan of the Otorhinolaryngology Unit in 2010-2011. Prof. Hillol was awarded the ‘Sanggar Sanjung–2009’ Award by the Majlis Malam Anugerah Sanggar Sanjung (Universiti Sains Malaysia) in the category of Penerbitan Buku in recognition of his contributions . He is the author of more than 25 international papers in neurosurgery and allied fields.
